Volunteers Opportunities for 2008-09

The generous contributions of time that our parents make is of immeasurable value to our school community and our children. There are many opportunities to participate. We welcome your time, talents and ideas. You may sign up for volunteer tasks on the bulletin board outside the Office door. Or, contact PA co-chair Emily Marks .

Hearing and Speech Testing Help move students through the hearing and speech testing. 9/16
School Pictures Help coordinate students. Perform last-minute hair combing and extra fussing to make kids look their best. Remind them to say "cheese". 9/24
Sukkah Building Help assemble and decorate a sukkah for the school. 10/13(tentative date)
Torah Celebration Help bake some goodies for this event. 10/15 or 10/16
Community Shabbat Dinner Need help matching families for this event. (Help will be needed prior to the actual event date.) We need volunteers to host other families in their homes. 11/7
Teacher Lunches During Parent/Teacher conferences the PA provides lunches for the teachers. Need help cooking, setting up, and serving lunches. Smiles required. 11/13 and 11/14
Pacific Science Center Van The Pacific Science Center comes to SJCS. Need help coordinating the students through the hands-on exhibitions. 12/8
Hanukkah Party This PA-sponsored annual event requires many volunteers to help with planning, cooking, setting up and cleaning up for this fun event. 12/21
SJCS Gala Many hands are needed for this event. If you can stuff an envelope or fill a water glass, we can use your help. 1/31
Purim Celebration Help plan and work with kids during this event. It is not to be missed! 3/10
Community Shabbat Dinner Need help prior to the event to match families. We also need volunteer families willing to host other families in their homes. 3/20
Model Seder Need help cooking, setting up, cleaning up and more for this all-school event. 4/2
Grandparents Day Help set up and help our many visitors to this event. 5/1
Teacher Appreciation Week Many helpers are needed to show teachers and staff how much we appreciate all they do! We need help planning what we'll do and making it happen. 5/4-5/8
Trip to Israel Join in the fun as the entire school takes a simulated trip to Israel. A variety of talents are needed. 5/14
Giant Shabbat Dinner Help bring the entire SJCS community together for this annual PA event at school. Many hands are needed for a variety of jobs. 6/12
