Chai Fives is a Jewish day school program for children who will turn five from June 1 through December 31, 2009. Chai Fives is designed to meet the cognitive, developmental, social, and emotional needs of “young fives” in a full-day setting. Chai Fives gives children extra time to grow ready for kindergarten in a stimulating environment expressly devoted to the child turning five. Chai Fives emphasizes learning through play, social development/integration, and an experiential approach designed to engage young students through all of their senses.
Our dual curriculum approach includes:
*Literacy and hand-writing readiness
*Hands-on math investigation and pre-math skills
*Science exploration focusing on learning through doing
*Jewish calendar and holiday cycle, with an emphasis on Shabbat
*Mitzvot/Commandments that relate specifically to communities of home and classroom
*Specialty curricula including music and creative dance/movement

SJCS is proud to partner with ParentMap to bring Dr. Wendy Mogel (The Blessing of a Skinned Knee) back to Seattle's Town Hall.
Dr. Mogel's May 6, 2009 presentation is a much anticipated follow-up to her 2007 SJCS-sponsored lecture.
