How to Apply

Applying to Kindergarten or Chai Fives

  • Download, complete and submit the Application and Common Teacher Evaluation Form to the Director of Admissions no later than January 15, 2009.  Families with a child applying only to Chai Fives should note Chai Fives on the application and advise your child's teacher that the evaluation is for a fives-cohort, not a kindergarten cohort.
  • If applicable, submit a Tuition Assistance Application no later than January 15, 2009. Tuition Assistance Applications are only available by snail mail and but can be requested by e-mail or phone.
  • Attend a Prospective Parent Information Night on November 18th, December 11th or January 6th. All events are held 7:00-8:30 p.m.
  • Schedule a school day tour with the Director of Admissions.
  • Schedule a  preview on either January 25, 2009 or March 1, 2009.
  • Contract offers are mailed on March 19, 2009.
  • If your child is offered admission, you must return your signed contract and non-refundable tuition deposit by March 31, 2009 to guarantee placement.


Children who turn five by August 31st of the upcoming year are eligible for Kindergarten.  Children who turn five from June 1 through August 31 are eligible for Kindergarten and Chai Fives.  Children who turn five from September 1 through December 31 are eligible only for Chai Fives.

 

Offers of admission and placement will be based upon parent input, current teacher evaluation, and observation by SJCS educators during a small group preview.  We consider chronological age, social, cognitive, and fine- and gross-motor skills, as well as balance and composition of the class cohort. If a child is eligible for both Kindergarten and Chai Fives, SJCS invites parents to share placement preference as part of the application process. Final placement decisions will be made by SJCS.

 

Applying to Grades 1-5

  • Download, complete and submit the Application (includes Teacher Comment Form) to the Director of Admissions no later than January 15, 2009.
  • Submit complete transcript to the Director of Admissions no later than January 15, 2009.
  • If applicable, submit a Tuition Assistance Application no later than January 15, 2009. Tuition Assistance Applications are only available by snail mail and but can be requested by e-mail or phone.
  • Attend a Prospective Parent Information Night on November 18th, December 11th or January 6th. All events are held 7:00-8:30 p.m.
  • Schedule a school day tour with the Director of Admissions.
  • Schedule a school visit for your student with the Director of Admissions.
  • Contract offers are mailed on March 19, 2009.
