SJCS has an unprecedented opportunity to transform our school, as well as the Jewish geography of Seattle, with the purchase of our three-story school building and an adjacent house. As owners of this highly desirable property, we will continue to develop an exceptional program that has the ability to accommodate the increasing numbers of Jewish families who choose day school in Seattle.
Ownership of our school building enables SJCS to consider new opportunities for growth, including:
- Meeting growing demand
- Enhancing science and technology curricula with dedicated lab space
- Building a more appealing outdoor area with a dedicated playground
- Creating a chapel that honors the role of T'fillah/Prayer in Jewish life
- Offering expanded Jewish educational and cultural opportunities
SJCS is now in the midst of the Campaign for SJCS – a $5 million campaign to fund the building purchase, furnish and equip the newly acquired space, and increase our endowment in order to ensure that we continue to provide a first-rate education to future generations of Seattle’s Jewish community.
Phase 1 of the Campaign for SJCS was launched in February, 2008 with an extraordinary $1.5 million challenge grant from the Samis Foundation. That challenge was met with over $1.5 million in gifts and pledges from leadership donors, including the Jewish Federation of Greater Seattle.
During the $2 million Phase 2 of the Campaign for SJCS, we ask you to partner with us in this singular opportunity to create a true center of Jewish community in North Seattle, anchored by our thriving day school.
